Is the enamel non-stick?
Yes. The satin enamel surface is naturally non-stick, and improves with use. To prevent sticking, use a low to medium heat and a generous amount of oil - don’t worry, enameled cast iron gets hot and stays hot for the perfect sear.
Do I need to season enamel pans?
No. Unlike raw cast iron, enamel pans don’t need seasoning. Just wash, dry, and cook. To protect the rim,occasionally rub on a small amount of high smoke point oil.
What’s the enamel made of?
A natural glass-based coating fused to cast iron at high heat. Durable, smooth, and free from PFAS, PFOA, and PTFE.
Can I use metal utensils?
Wood, bamboo, or silicone is best. Light use of metal won’t hurt. Avoid sharp edges that can chip enamel.
Is it dishwasher safe?
Dishwashers reduce its life. Hand wash in warm, soapy water for best care.
Does it work in the oven?
Yes. Ironclad enamel cast iron is oven safe. Avoid temperatures over 300°C. But that’s crazy hot.
Does it work on induction?
