At Ironclad, every pour is tested to ensure our cast iron is pure enough to cook with. That might sound obvious, but it isn’t. Over the years, we’ve tested samples of discount cast iron to see how they manage such low prices—and found ingredients we wouldn’t want anywhere near our food.
In Australia and New Zealand, the cast iron industry remains unregulated, with no specific standards for "Food Grade Cast Iron." While we are working to change that, it is currently up to each manufacturer to ensure their products are safe.
At Ironclad, we test to meet the highest standards currently available globally. In Germany, our cookware complies with LFGB standards, and in America, it meets both FDA regulations and California Proposition 65 requirements.

Every Ironclad cast iron pan is handcrafted with the same care and quality that defined cast iron cookware of generations past. Our commitment to finishing each piece by hand ensures a smooth, natural surface that will just get better with time.
Inspired by vintage cast iron pieces from the 1800s, our signature finishing techniques create an elegantly smooth surface that feels almost like ceramic. By carefully grinding and polishing the cooking surface and base, we can create cast iron that is both naturally non-stick and gentle enough for even the most delicate cooktops, including induction.
